I really like this book when I finished reading it. It opens up a window that allows one to view the lives and feelings of youth faced with a death sentence.

Gilmore Girls

I am surprised, awestruck, and sickened all at the same time. I am amazed that I have not posted about Gilmore Girls. Today is a commemorate day because I have finished all of the seasons for the sixth time! I absolutely love Gilmore Girls and every time it ends I just want to start them over! I learn something new every time I watch it!

Dostoevsky and Lace

After studying Notes from Underground by Fyodor Dostoevsky I have absolutely NO desire to move on to Crime and Punishment. From the Underground Man's first words to his last I absolutely HATED him. I am reading Nietzsche's essay The Madman now and I like this writing a lot better. Who would have known Existentialism could be so diverse? Oh wait, everyone knew that.

I love lace over the boots! Okay, maybe for me not cowboy boots, but definitely the lace! LOVE!

The Book Drought

The time where you actually start believe that there are. no. other. books. There are a lot of books that I definitely want to read, but can't actually afford to get them. I guess it's time to go to the library and get a new library card.

A Flashback

With my latest obsession with Moonrise Kingdom this dress is inspired by the girl character Suzy. I think that topped with a great cardigan, this would be a perfect 60's flashback dress!

Incredibly Close

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer came "incredibly close" to my heart. This novel took me about two weeks to read, but it was definitely worth the time. I think that this novel is desired by this generation. The events that happened on September 11th 2001 are wedged deep into our hearts, but are becoming less and less talked about. Discussed. Discovered. We don't want to forget, yet the stories are slipping through our fingers with the passage of time. This is where we thank Foer. He writes a book where the words jump out of the pages because for those of us who were alive that day, we can understand. I really believe that his novel will always remain a very important piece of modern American literature.


From my very weak perspective of the tradgedy the novel allowed me to walk in someone else's shoes for awhile. No matter what your story is, it is good to discover someone else's. The story is fiction, but very relatable to the true events.

I would definitely reccomend this book to everyone. Especially if you are open to new ideas and a very modern, emotional book.

The Very Cheesy but Undeniably True Beginning

I thought it swell to start at the very beginning of my reading career. I mean, of course I read or was read to many children's book throughout my days. I never hated reading, but I also never loved it until I was in the second grade.

I remember the first time I laid my eyes on the magical volume of pure literary genius. I was in a bookstore called Professor Books (or something similar). It smelled like wet wood. My mom was buying my cousin this novel for a birthday present. It wasn't long after that the novel debuted as a film. 

I am very embarrassed and humiliated to admit that what got me interested in reading was a movie. Although, I am not ashamed to admit that that movie was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I LOVED the movie. I felt so grown up and as cheesy and stupid as it sounds, I felt a deep connection with the main character Harry.

So I picked up the book. 

And I didn't put the book down until I was fourteen years old. After I read J.K. Rowling's final work, I of course picked up her first book again, and still read Harry Potter to this day.

So, as much as I would love to thank my mom, or state that I have loved reading since the day that I was born; I must thank Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling for teaching me to read and the spark of curiosity that the books kindled in my heart.

Who else needs to thank Harry for this?
